Top 5 Interviewing Blunders to Avoid

  • Arriving late.
  • Dressing inappropriately.
  • Not researching the company beforehand.
  • Displaying negative body language (i.e. slouching, rolling eyes, frowning, etc.)
  • Using your cell phone during the interview.

Items to Bring

You should bring along a folder or portfolio containing the following:

  • Multiple copies of your resume
  • A pen and notebook for taking notes
  • References
  • List of any questions you have
  • Your current contact information
  • Directions

Following Up After the Interview

  • Follow up within 24 hours of the interview with a handwritten note, an email,  or a phone call to thank your interviewer for the opportunity.
  • Highlight your interest in the job and company.
  • Use this opportunity to mention anything you forgot to say during the interview or to clarify any information where you may have misspoke during the interview. Correcting this information will show that you are honest and care about how you present yourself.
